iPhone 14 design completed and beta production started

Although we don't have the full picture yet of what the iPhone 14 will look like for this year, it seems that the design has been completed, and Apple's suppliers are moving to the first stage of beta production for the expected iPhone. According to Taiwan's Economic Time, Apple has divided manufacturing into iPhone 14 models this year between two of its main partners, Foxconn will produce the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, while the base model iPhone 14 and later Called "iPhone 14 Max" will go to Luxshare.

As it has been rumored for a while, the 5.4-inch iPhone will not be produced again, and this year is the last year to produce this size, as Apple will cancel this less popular design in favor of unifying the lineup in only two sizes.

The result will be two iPhones measuring 6.1 inches, and two other iPhones measuring 6.7 inches under the name “Max”, and the difference will only be between the Pro version and the lower version of it.

It is rumored so far, that the iPhone 14 will come with the same design as the iPhone 12 lineup in 2020, but it is rumored that there is an increase in thickness a little to get rid of the camera bump, and the volume buttons will be rounded, in addition to some other minor changes in design.

There were also a series of reports claiming that there was a different design for the front camera, and other rumors that suggested removing the notch and replacing it with a punched camera, or reducing the size of the notch in the form of a cutout at the top of the screen. None of the reports agreed on a specific design or even suggested one of them.

Other changes

In addition to the obvious changes in the visual design, the new iPhone 14 is also expected to feature the usual improvements in performance, thanks to Apple's next-generation CPU, which we assume will be called the "A16".

It was also rumored that Apple may finally enhance the main camera and increase its accuracy to 48 megapixels, and it is possible that Apple will keep the accuracy of 12 megapixels, and the additional pixels will be used to provide improved details and improve low-light photography.

One of the improvements that will affect the camera is to increase the quality of video recording resolution to 8K, which is a logical next step, especially since Apple’s competitors have started to adopt this resolution, but if Apple introduced 8K technology at 60 frames per second, it would be completely different.

There's also a good chance that the iPhone 14 Pro will come with 8GB of RAM, up 2GB more than the iPhone 13 Pro. And while Apple doesn't usually release specs like this, a boost in RAM will certainly help improve performance a lot, and will likely be necessary to handle some advanced photography and video features.

Finally, there are also rumors that the iPhone 14 could be the first model without a physical SIM card slot. There is no doubt that Apple has been working on this for a while, and with more cellular carriers supporting eSIM, this is a natural evolution of cellular technology.

We're probably years away from Apple ditching the SIM slot on all new models, iPhone models sold in China still have two physical SIM slots, so it's going to be a huge change in this market. Most likely, Apple will start producing at least one version that fully supports eSIM within the next year or two, but it will be exclusive to certain countries that support this technology strongly.

What is trial production?

Now that the iPhone 14 has entered beta production, we can say that Apple has adopted its final design, with no possibility of changing it. In other words, the design of the iPhone 14 lineup looks the way Apple wants it to look, and it will actually be produced with that design.

The purpose of the trial production is for Apple's manufacturing partners to ensure that the design can be approved and produced, at which point data is collected, abnormalities and defects are monitored, and the results are evaluated if the results are acceptable or need to be modified.

In the event that Foxconn or Luxe Share encounters unlikely problems, it is likely that Apple will have to make some modifications to the design, or even cancel it completely and adopt another, while this is rare.

Likely to happen with the Apple Watch 7 last year, where rumors of a big design surfaced in early 2021 but it didn't migrate to an actual product, which is unlikely.

Although some believe that Apple changed the design of the Apple Watch at the last minute, but this is unlikely in the case of the iPhone for many reasons, the least of which is that Apple is conducting experiments months ahead of schedule, and it pays the iPhone great attention, certainly It will be much more than an hour, although the latter is also receiving widespread attention.

After Apple has adopted the design, we hope to start seeing more solid information about what the final version of the upcoming iPhone 14 will look like.
