Android 12 adds a new tool that will help you control the time you spend looking at your mobile phone

The latest Android update in March 2022 brought with it the release of the first stable version of Android 12L, Google's operating system designed for tablets and foldable phones, and the arrival of a series of really interesting new features for Google Pixels.

One of the highlights of this Android 12 update is that it includes a new widget, which will help you control the time you waste looking at your mobile phone.

As the guys from Android Police tell us, this new tool is already available for all Pixel devices updated to Android 12, but it is still unknown if it will also reach phones of other brands with Android 12.

The new Android 12 widget allows you to control the time you spend looking at your mobile screen, as it shows you the total hours and minutes you spend looking at your mobile screen every day and the three apps you used the most. To show you this data, this tool is synced with the Digital Wellbeing function, a tool that has been included in Android since Android 9 to tell us how we use our smartphones and encourage us to reduce its use.

In this tool, we will see several circles of different sizes, the largest of which correspond to the applications you have used a lot so far.

Touching this new widget will directly open the Digital Wellbeing app, where you can see when the mobile was used, notifications received, and the times you opened each app during the current day. In addition, this app also allows us to take measures to reduce the time we spend looking at the mobile screen, such as setting timers for apps, activating dimming mode during working hours, or enabling bedtime mode for relaxing before bed.
